Discovery Groups -

'All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness...'

(2 Timothy 3:16 - Holy Bible, New International Version)

At St John's, we believe the bible is not just a book, but God's word to us, written by the hand of man, but inspired by God Himself.  The bible assures us of God's great love in times of pain, and His enduring presence in times of trouble. It comforts us, and assures us we are made in His image for a good purpose.

When we are lost it guides us; when we go wrong it corrects us. It challenges us and shows us how God, as our perfect Heavenly Father, knows what's best for us; how He wants us to live our lives in a way that is good and healthy for us, and for those around us.

Being in church for our Sunday services and hearing the teaching is important, but it is not enough in itself to grow into all that Jesus would have for us as His followers.

Many of our church members find value in meeting in small groups in peoples homes, to discover more of what the bible has to say and what it means to be a follower of Jesus in the modern world. These are not just places of discovery, they are places of friendship, support, encouragement and joy!

There are currently 4 groups meeting around 3 times per month-

Sunday evenings in Stanley Park area;

Wednesday evenings in the Highcross area;

Thursday mornings at St John's;

Thursday evenings in the Whitegate Dr area.

You can be assured of a warm welcome at any of these groups. They are led by church members so there are no 'experts'!  Get in touch if you want more info on these groups!

We also encourage our members to read the bible each day. There are many ways to do that, but the one we use is  called 'Our Daily Bread', You can access it online via their website below.
