Welcome to our website, and thank you for stopping by!
Whether you're here for the first time and looking to learn more about the Christian faith; visiting Blackpool and looking for a church, or a Christian new to Blackpool looking for somewhere to call home, I hope you'll find everything you need here.
At St John's, we have a firm faith that through Jesus we can know 'life in fullness'. That's a life where we are confident in our identity as God's children, and can live in the joy and peace of that identity regardless of what circumstances come at us. It's a life where we also have an unshakable confidence that our ultimate destination is eternity with our Heavenly Father. We have that confidence not because of our own goodness, but because of what Jesus did for us on the cross.
As Vicar of St John's, I want to extend a personal invitation to you to explore the pages of this site, and join us for worship, to know that 'life in fullness' for yourself. We look forward to seeing you soon!
God bless you,
Rev Steve Haskett
Who we are -
As you encounter St John's, it's our hope and prayer that you will find 3 things about us:
That 'we are more than meets the eye'; that 'we are a living church' and that 'we are an active church'. You can find more about our values and beliefs on the 'Who We Are' page.
What we do-
We meet for worship twice a week- at 10.30am on Sundays and 11am on Wednesdays.
As well our worship services, we have weekly bible studies, monthly prayer meetings, and all kinds of other activities running as church. You can explore all of these things through the menu at the top of the page.
Finding Us -
St John's is an iconic, landmark building in the centre of Blackpool, opposite the historic Winter Gardens. You can find out how to get to us (and where to park) on our dedicated 'Finding Us' page.
Life with Jesus -
The Good News of the Gospel message is that God loves you and created you to be in relationship with Him. Regardless of the human circumstances of your birth, God brought you into this world brimming with purpose and potential.
The world is full of bad things. We see this every day. Christians believe this is caused by individual people turning away from God and His perfect purposes for our lives. We call this 'sin'. Sin separates us from knowing the fullness of God's love for us, and stops us from having peace-filled and loving relationships with each other. Sin also leads to death, and eternal separation from God. Christians believe that place of separation has a name, which we call 'Hell'. Jesus Himself spoke much about Hell.
Jesus Christ came into the world as God's perfect Son, full of love for mankind, to deal with the problem of sin. On the cross, Jesus took on Himself all sin, and the death it brings. As we look to the cross, we see that we can be forgiven for turning away from God. and can have a personal relationship with our Creator, as our perfect Heavenly Father.
When we put our trust in Jesus, He frees us from death and gives us the promise of Heaven for eternity with Him. Through His Holy Spirit, we are made new, and equipped to be agents of transformation, shining light to show others the love we ourselves have received.
